I am originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti and grew up in Canada and Boca Raton, Florida. I hold two Bachelor of Science degrees from Florida State University (Go Noles!) in Psychology and Family and Child Sciences. I later earned a Master of Education in Counseling & Development, with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Winthrop University. Winthrop’s program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). I am licensed to practice in both North Carolina (LCMHC) and South Carolina (LPC). I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC). I am also trained in Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). While I don’t primarily practice Christian counseling, I do identify as Christian, and my faith plays an important role in my personal life. I am happy to incorporate faith-based solutions into therapy at the request of my clients. With over 10 years in the field, I have worked with a variety of populations, including clients dealing with substance misuse, individuals experiencing homelessness, and survivors of abuse such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. While my primary focus has been trauma, I also have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, religious trauma, eating disorders, life transitions, women’s issues, immigrant victims of crime, and human trafficking. I take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from various theoretical frameworks to best meet the unique needs of my clients. Working with those in vulnerable and underserved communities has been a cornerstone of my career and I am passionate about destimatizing mental health. I resonate to Ann Voskamp’s quote that “shame dies when stories are told in safe places”. If you are on the fence about getting counseling or uncertain if therapy is right for you, I would be honored to answer any questions you have. I understand how intimidating it can be to reach out for help, and I am here to support you on that journey.
